Day 8: arrived in the morning at Venice Beach, had breakfast on the beach. Swam all morning, drove around LA for a bit, had In-N-Out Burger for lunch at checked in at our Airbnb (which we booked in the middle of the night). Ended the day at Santa Monica Pier.
Day 9: Explored LA, hung out at Point Dume and spent the evening at Sycamore Cove Beach with a campfire.
Day 6: Left early in the morning, stopped at Glen Canyon Dam and drove to Zion National Park. We camped at Watchmen Campground and explored the area and swam at the Virgin River.
Day 7: Lots of rain. Hiked to Emerald Pools and got caught in a hail stone. Lots of flash flood warnings and trails are closed. We were suppose to stay here for 3 nights but with the weather forecast looking grim we decided to pack up that night and drive through the night to Los Angeles.
Day 5: woke up to the an equally breath taking sunrise. Took a little hike (Finn and I) while Scot took a very long hike. Hit the road by noon and drove to Page AZ. visited the Antelope Canyon. Checked in a hotel, did some laundry and watched the sunset at Horsehoe Bend.
Day 4: Left the Grand Canyon and drove to Monument Valley. Splurged and stayed at an amazing cabin overlooking the valley. Took a self guided tour around the valley and watch the most breath taking sun set ever.
In the summer of 2015 we took a longer road trip around the Grand Canyon. I never blogged the trip but really wanted to go back and document it anyways.
We took 10 days off in July 2015, flew to Las Vegas and started our epic road trip. We did a little bit of everything... camping, Airbnb and hotel.
Here is our itinerary:
Day 1: Flew into Las Vegas... arrived late at night. Picked up our car and stayed in a cheap hotel
Day 2: Left early morning Las Vegas and hit the road towards the south rim at the Grand Canyon. Along the way we stooped at Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Kingman AZ (for some In-N-Out Burgers) and ended the day with an amazing sunset at the Grand Canyon. We stayed two nights at the Mather Campground.
Day 3: Lots of exploring and a little hiking at the Grand Canyon.
