99 Days of Summer Project - Week 2

99 Days of Summer Project - Week One

For the past three years I have tried to document our summer in daily pictures... Every summer I have failed. I think one year I even made it past the half way mark, and still failed. This year we set family summer goals we wanted to reach and mine was trying this project again (and learning to play "Over the Rainbow" on the ukulele but I will fail that one miserably).

I knew I needed to do something differently and that's when I came up with the idea to invite others to join in on the fun. A quick Facebook post looking for others to join spread around and before I knew it, the little group that I started, grew to over 60 members.

The rules are simple. Take a picture a day from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Photograph something that represents YOUR summer and/ or YOUR day. Post it to our group and use the hashtags #99daysofsummerproject and #day1 #day2 and so on.

Below is my first finished week! One day in particular wasn't easy but it was easier than in the past because I was being in some way held accountable. So one week down... many more to go but I can't wait to keep going at this point!

This little project is only fun because I have this amazing community around me I wanted to share a few from them. I picked each picture of the day not because it is the best photograph of the day but because to me these pictures scream "Summer in Cincinnati" to me. There are so many, many more amazing photographs, every single one so different but sadly I can't share them all. Here are just a few:

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I do!

Rylan's In Home Session - Cincinnati Newborn Photographer

Rylan's parents asked me to photograph her Newborn session in their gorgeous newly renovated home in Over-the-Rhine.

The cactus below starting sprouting a baby on her own when Rylan's mom was expecting her!

Rylan is named after the Rye Whiskey. A pretty cool name, especially if your Dad owns the George Remus Whiskey. Of course we had to get a shot with Rylan, her Dad and a bottle of whiskey! Coolest Newborn session ever!

Stories from India - From the Balcony - Travel Photography

One of the projects we had going at Freeset (see my previous post about Freeset) was to paint Shannon's apartment. (Hi Shannon!). Shannon is from Cincinnati and is living in Kolkata working at Freeset. I took the job of painting the shutters from the outside, mainly so i could see what's going on in the street below me.

Lot's of people walking around, kids playing, motor cycles driving through and honking but here are my top two favorite happenings:

1. a mother dropped of her (very) young children off. She left them to play in a little cart and was gone for at least an hour while the kids played. She may have just been inside the house. But for at least an hour no one was supervising this little ones and they played happily with A stick in this cart together.

2. a kitten was meowing and meowing. This went on for a while whenall of sudden a neighbor upstairs opened his door, yelled something in Bengali and threw out a grocery bag with scraps out. The bag landed right in front of the kitten and she had a feast! That stopped the meowing

I took a little video with my go pro. Nothing that exciting but I thought you might like it! You can see the children playing in the cart if you look closely.
